A plane crashed Monday evening in the center of Goma, in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least seven of around 30 people on board, Congolese officials said.
The plane -- a Fokker 50 operated by the Congolese airline Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation -- was carrying passengers and cargo.
In addition to those killed, three injured passengers had been taken to a local hospital, Congolese officials said.
Witnesses said the plane crashed as it was trying to land in bad weather at the Goma airport.
