JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A proposed new restaurant on Park Street has people in the Riverside Avondale neighborhood taking sides on whether or not it's a good idea.

The owners of Kickbacks Gastropub want to tear down an old house and build a new restaurant. Opponents of the plan said the neighborhood can't handle the extra people.

The restaurant expansion calls for 249 seats, however no extra parking spaces have been allotted.

On its website, the Riverside Avondale Preservation Society says: "We believe the expansion, as presently proposed, will greatly increase the demand for parking in an area already experiencing severe parking problems."

The new construction would increase the tax revenue on the property by more than $900,000 and create 35 jobs in an area some say Kickbacks has helped revitalize.
