A man crossing Emerson Expressway near the Beach Boulevard exit died after he was struck by a car early Monday morning.
The victim was transported to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he died of his injuries. His name has not been released.
Police say the driver of the northbound car that struck the pedestrian suffered minor injuries.
The accident happened about 7:30 a.m., but the expressway was expected to remain closed much of the morning while police investigate the incident.
