The person of interest in the death of a Nassau County father was arraigned Thursday on a car theft charge.
James Turnage Jr. entered a not guilty plea.
Nassau County detectives have named Turnage a person of interest in the killing of 51-year-old Kirk Westfall in October.
Westfall's remains were found in December in a wooded area of Patrick, S.C.
Westfall disappeared after attending his son's high school football game on Oct. 8. Nassau County deputies said there was a bloody scene in Westfall's home in Yulee, but there was no sign of the man, and his car was missing.
Turnage was spotted in South Carolina driving Westfall's car days before he was arrested in Vineland, N.J.
Turnage's first pretrial hearing on the car theft charge is scheduled for Feb. 17. His bail is set at $100,000.
