Pet adoption event this weekend
Jacksonville animal shelter is over capacity
Animal Care and Protective Services has more than 100 cats and dogs it needs to get out of the shelter so they won't be euthanized. First Coast No More Homeless Pets is helping with the three-day adoption and says it really needs the community to step up and help.
"We want to become a no kill community. Nobody wants to euthanize animals, adoptable animals. So we're really reaching out to the community," FCNMHP Developmental Director Dianne Wiles said.
The more animals that get adopted, the closer the shelters in Jacksonville are to becoming a no kill community.
The event will be held at ACPS located at 2020 Forest Street from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. A special adoption rate of $20 will be offered for dogs and cats and all animals will be spayed, neutered and vaccinated.
