TAMPA, Fla. -

The GMC pickup truck owned by the father of two boys kidnapped from their grandparents' Florida house was found abandoned in a Madeira Beach parking garage and now authorities say they may now be traveling by sailboat.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says detectives were processing the vehicle, found late Thursday. They're searching for clues to help them find 4-year-old Cole Hakken and his 2-year-old brother Chase.  Officials say they were taken Wednesday by their father, 35-year-old Joshua Michael Hakken, after he tied up their grandmother.

Authorities in several states are searching for the boys, as tips have poured in. Authorities say Hakken and the children's mother, 34-year-old Sharyn Patricia Hakken, are the prime suspects.

Joshua Hakken lost custody of his children last year after a drug possession arrest in Louisiana. Authorities say he later tried to take them from a foster home at gunpoint.

Joshua and Sharyn Hakken Hillsborough County investigators believe the parents may be armed and dangerous.

Officials say Joshua Hakken had been arrested in a hotel on multiple drug charges in St. Tammany Parrish, Louisiana, where he had just attended some type of anti-government rally.

At some point after the arrest, the state of Louisiana took custody of both children and placed them in temporary foster care. While the children were at the foster care facility, investigators said Joshua Hakken allegedly showed up at the facility waving a gun and started beating on the front door.

Amber Alert sailboat On Friday afternoon, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the missing boys and their parents may be traveling aboard a 1972 25-foot Morgan sailboat named Salty.  The boat has a blue hull, a blue Bimini top and has a picture of a paw near the back of the hull on each side. Underneath the name, the "St. Petersburg" is in white lettering on the stern.  The vessel has a registration number FL3717BK.

Chase Hakken is 3 feet tall, weighs 33 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes.  He was last seen wearing pajamas. Cole Hakken is 3 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 44 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes.  He was also last seen wearing pajamas.

Anyone in Florida with information about Hakkens is asked to call 911 or to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
