LAKE CITY, Fla. -

Two armed men are on the run after they attacked the clerk at a Lake City Stop N' Go during a robbery on Thursday night.

Just before 10 p.m., two men dressed in all black clothing went into the convenience store, and one of them jumped over the counter and pointed a handgun at the clerk, demanding money from the register.

While the clerk was taking the cash out of the register, the robber hit him on the head with his gun, police said. After the first robber took the money, he handed it to the second man, who was standing behind him also armed with a gun, police said.

The two robbers fled the store at 1263 N.W. U.S. Highway 90 on foot, heading north on Northwest Glen Lake Boulevard.

Lake City police and Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies responded immediately but couldn't find the men.

The clerk was treated for his injuries and later released from a hospital.

The first robber is described as a black man with a thin build. He as wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt, black shorts, black shoes and had a black cloth over his face.

The second robber is described as a heavyset black man. He was wearing black pants, a black long-sleeve shirt, black tennis shoes and a ski mask.
