Police: Home invader robs, rapes woman
Officers trying to identify man in early Sunday break-in
Police in Lake City are looking for a man they said broke into a home early Sunday morning and robbed, then raped a 30-year-old woman.
Police said the homeowner was awakened about 5 a.m. to clicking sounds coming from another area of the house. When she got up to check, she encountered the man climbing through her window.
The woman took off running through her house, and the man caught up to her and asked her, "Do you want to live or die?" according to police. He then began asking her where her money was, police said.
After the attacker robbed the woman of about $500 cash, he then began to rape her, police said.
The attacker left the home using the front door and warned the woman "not to move or to call the police for 10 minutes," according to police. After the man left, the victim composed herself and went to the Lake City Police Department to file a police report, investigators said.
The attacker is described as a light-skinned man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, between 160 and 170 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing, a ski mask and black fingerless gloves.
Police said there are no known suspects at this time.
Anyone with any information about the man's identity is asked to call the Lake City Police Department anonymously on the tip line at 386-719-2068.
