JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police have identified a man operating a street sweeper who was killed in the parking lot of Regency Square Mall in what investigators called a tragic accident earlier this month.

Corey Baker, 39, of Arlington, died Sept. 14.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide detectives responding to the mall just after 8 a.m. found Baker dead.

"It appears that the hopper that collects the debris possibly fell on the employee," JSO Lt. Mike Beckmann said at the time.

A second work crew noticed the street sweeper was no longer behind him, went to investigate and found his co-worker had been crushed.

Baker had worked for six years for a company contracted by the mall to clean the grounds.
