Police in Lake City have arrested a 28-year-old man who they said shot another main in the face with a flare gun Wednesday morning.
Police said 27-year-old Enrique Cutts was sitting in a vehicle and was approached by Cory Douglas when Douglas shot him just before 5:30 a.m.
Douglas fled the scene but was later located and arrested, police said. He was taken to Gainesville for medical treatment.
Police said they found Cutts standing next to the car in the 300 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Street and bleeding from the face. Cutts told an officer he was sitting in the front seat of his mother's car while
parked when Douglas approached the vehicle, opened the driver's side door and shot him in the face with a flare gun.
After the shot, the interior of the car caught on fire, but was quickly extinguished, police said.
Cutts could not provide officers any information as to why he was shot by Douglas. Cutts was also taken to Gainesville for treatment of his injuries.
Douglas was found at his home. He was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and criminal mischief and booked into the Columbia County Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
