JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 44-year-old Jacksonville man stole three bouquets of plastic flowers from Evergreen Cemetery on the Northside to give to his girlfriend, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

An officer saw David Lee walking near the cemetery in the 4500 block of North Main Street about 6 p.m. Sunday. Lee appeared to be intoxicated, according to a police report, and the officer said Lee's clothes were dirty and dishevelled.

The officer said the there was fresh soil falling from the bottom of the flower bouquets Lee was carrying, and the officer stopped and talked to him, according to the report.

Police said Lee admitted he ripped the flowers out of the soil next to a tombstone in the cemetery and was going to give them to his girlfriend.

Lee was arrested and booked into the Duval County jail.
