Two University of Florida students were caught having sex on a picnic table at the federal courthouse construction site downtown over the Florida-Georgia weekend, according to Jacksonville police.

Jarred Dauth, 21, and Maya Manseur, 23, managed to climb a 6-foot fence to get to the spot where they were seen naked having sex, according to a police report.

Dauth tried to run away but didn't get far before he was detained by police, according to the report.

According to the police report, the couple admitted to drinking alcohol before jumping the fence.

Both are charged with indecent exposure and trespassing.

"Well, it was kind of funny in a way, but it was kind of crazy coming in here and doing that, especially on a picnic table where everyone eats lunch," said Mark Lopez, who works at the construction site. "Yeah, it bothers me. People come in a place like this and do that."

Kora Tucker, who works downtown, said that if she had a son or daughter who was caught having sex in a public place, "they would be in a lot of trouble."

"I've heard of similar situations when I was younger of people doing that," said Harold Millen, who also works downtown. "It's nothing new in a way."

The crimes the two students are charged with are first-degree misdemeanors. They face up to a year in jail and/or a fine.
