A 41-year-old Jacksonville woman who police said admitted to killing her husband is being held at the Duval County Jail on a murder charge.
Darcie Riggle was seen by police in Homerville, Ga., late Wednesday night driving erratically, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Police said Riggle pulled over and stopped her car before police could conduct a traffic stop.
Police said Riggle got out of the vehicle and told an officer that she wasn't feeling well and needed to go to the hospital. She asked him to take her to the hospital, police said.
According to JSO, Riggle then told the Homerville officer, "I shot my husband. I think I killed him."
She told the officer that she shot her husband at their Murray Hill home in Jacksonville in the 1200 block of Peacefield Drive, according to police.
JSO was notified of the shooting, and patrol officers responded to the home. Police said the front door was open when they arrived. Officers said they entered the home to check on the welfare of the victim, 44-year-old Daniel Riggle, who was found dead in the kitchen with apparent gunshot wounds to the head.
Police said they found a .357 revolver on the kitchen counter with four spent rounds.
Detectives with the Clinch County (Ga.) Sheriff's Office interviewed Darcie Riggle, who admitted to shooting her husband with a handgun because she was tired of him talking down to her, according to JSO.
Police said Riggle agreed to return to Jacksonville voluntarily and signed a waiver of extradition.
Police have been called to the couple's home five times since December, including this week's killing. They were called there for unknown reasons on Dec. 25, then for a suicide threat on Dec. 29. Police were also called to the home on May 26 for a domestic disturbance, and again for a domestic disturbance on Aug. 17.
