Police: Woman Shoots Suspect With His Gun
Published On: Oct 14 2011 02:12:42 PM EDT Updated On: Oct 31 2007 05:54:19 AM EDTA woman confronted by two home invasion suspects in Westside apartment on Wednesday morning wrestled a gun away from one of them and shot him, police said.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's office, two suspects posing as maintenance men entered the woman's apartment in the 4400 block of Confederate Park Road.
When one of the men pulled a gun, the woman struggled with him.
"The victim of the robbery got control of the suspect's weapon," Det. Mike Pagett said.
Police said the women fired more than one shot and hit of the suspects as he ran through the parking lot.
The man was rushed to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center in serious condition. His name has not been released.
The second man jumped a fence and got away.
The woman was not hurt.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
