Police have identified the man shot to death 1 a.m. Sept. 6 while riding a bicycle on Danville Avenue at the intersection of Donnybrook Avenue.

Larry Maurice Gibbs, 50, was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center and pronounced dead.

"We have no witnesses," said Sgt. Michael Paul that morning at the scene. "We have a 911 caller who heard gunshots. They heard three to five gunshots. We do know he was shot at least one time."

On Monday, police say this was still an active murder investigation and asked anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
