Detectives are investigating skeletal remains found in woods off Philips Highway on Jacksonville's Southside.
The remains were discovered Friday near the intersection of Reba Avenue and Marguerite Street during a follow-up on a missing person's report. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says it can not be sure if the remains are of the person reported missing.
Police say it does not appear to be a homicide, but the identity and cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
The JSO's Major Case Crime unit remained on the scene Saturday morning investigating.
