On Thursday, a medical examiner took the stand in the murder trial of suspected serial killer Paul Durousseau.

Durousseau is on trial for the killing of Tyresa Mack. The 24-year-old mother of three was found dead inside her Eastside apartment in 1999.

Prosecutors said in addition to Mack, Durousseau also killed five other women in Jacksonville and one in Columbus, Ga.

The first witness prosecutors called on Thursday was DNA expert Dr. Martin Tracy, who talked about the Florida Department of Law Enforcement test results.

Tracy said the chance the DNA found on one of the victims was not Durousseau's was one out in 750 million.

Although the current trial is for the slaying of Mack, the judge is allowing testimony involving two of the other killings that Durousseau is accused of committing.

Duval County's chief medical examiner took the stand Thursday. She told the jury Mack died in a way similar to at least two other victims that Durousseau is accused of killing.

The medical examiner answered yes twice after being asked if the cords presented before the court were the ones used to strangle and bound 20-year-old Shawanda McCalister in 2003.

The prosecution rested late Thursday afternoon, and the defense is expected to start presenting its case Friday morning.
