JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Prosecutors said there have been talks of plea deals in the case of two teens accused of killing their University Christian classmate.

Charles Southern, 17, and Connor Pridgen, 16, did not look at each other in court Thursday. They approached the bench from opposite sides of the room at a procedural hearing.

Prosecutors said the two teens killed Makia Coney in February, shooting her in the head and leaving her body in a ditch off Powers Avenue.

Both are being charged as adults.

Their next hearing is July 29.
