The rabies alert area is bordered on the north by Columbia Park Drive at Columbia Park Drive West, on the south by Old St. Augustine Road at Interstate 95, on the west by Falbridge Court at Interstate 95, and east by Greenland Chase Boulevard and Hazelmoor Court.
The alert follows the discovery of a rabid fox in the Greenland area. Health officials said they determined there was human exposure involved in this alert.
As a precaution, pet owners should confine their animals and be certain that each has received current rabies immunization shots from a licensed veterinarian.
Stray animals should be reported to the city of Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services at 904-630-2489.
For further information or to report animal bites, contact Rabies Control at 904-253-1280.
