Tara Gean Hawkins
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The remains Jacksonville police found in a wooded area near the Emerson Inn in South Metro may be those of a missing 33-year-old woman who disappeared June 1.

Police found the remains behind the motel on Philips Highway on Sunday night. They said the remains were too badly decomposed to tell if the body was a man or woman.

People who live in the area received automated calls looking for evidence in the case surrounding Tara Hawkins, who was last seen at Emperor's Gentlemen's Club on University Boulevard just off Philips Highway.

Police are not connecting her disappearance with the discovery of the remains, but in the phone message to residents, police say the missing person has been found.

They say they're looking for a Hamilton blue beach cruiser, the same beach cruiser Hawkins was seen riding in a surveillance photo.

Officers are also looking for her T-shirt, blue jeans and a cellphone.
