The Duval County School Board has released new information about a coloring book controversy.
The Atlantic Beach Elementary School teacher who used images of a lynching and blackface for a second-grade assignment says she's used the same material for the past three years.
The School Board released documents saying teacher Teresa Flores used the Black History Month assignment before and it didn't raise any personal concerns to her.
The documents show Flores had no prior disciplinary action on her personnel file.
It did site a 2012 evaluation labeling the teacher as "developing/needs improvement" in the area of "Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport."
In the investigation documents, Flores said teachers like her receive no direction from the school district on what to use to teach students about Black History Month and teachers have to find their own materials for those lessons.
At the next School Board meeting April 2, Superintendent Nikolai Vitti will recommend suspending Flores without pay for five days.
