More information about a story we told you about yesterday morning- a town hall meeting is now planned for next month to discuss a proposed housing development in Mandarin. It's ignited a debate over the impact the 67 new homes would have on the area. It would be on Joda Lane -- which is south of Old St.Augustine Road. Channel 4's Kumasi Aaron joins us LIVE from Mandarin.Kumasi the city councilman who is supporting the plan...got an ear-full last night from people opposed to it. 3 It has to go through several committees and the council before that happens, and the councilman for this district is planning a town hall for residents to voice their concerns.But some wanted to share their opinions now. :00-:05:09-:13:36- :43:47-:54This meeting wasn't supposed to be about the new development proposed to be built in South Mandarin. But nearly every person here wanted City Councilman Matt Schellenberg to address it. LENORA COPPER 225558-5604 "I'm very concerned about how it's going to affect my rural life that I have right now today. This is where the new 67 housing development would be if this ordinance passes, on Joda Lane, just south of Old. St. Augustine Road. Grace Farms investments owns the 17 acre piece of mostly undeveloped land, and want the city council to re-zone the area and allow for 67 homes to be built on 60 food wide lots. Some residents say it just doesn't fit with the rural character of their community. City Councilman Schellenberg stressed this is not set in stone, and the council, it's committees, even the developers wanted to hear from them before making a final decision.
