PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -

Governor Rick Scott made a stop in Ponte Vedra Wednesday evening to talk about Florida's education system.

He attended the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities Annual Awards dinner at the Sawgrass Marriott.

Governor Scott explained to the crowd that having a better education means better jobs.

"Unemployment has come down and the state is heading in the right direction. A big part of our success higher ed. If you want to have the jobs of the future, it's going to be tied to, whether it's K-12, you're going to have to have to be ready for college and ready for a career," said Scott.

The Governor also said science, technology, and engineering should be our main focus in education.

He says that will help Florida compete in the world market for great jobs.
