Police have identified the man who fired shots at a car driving by a home in Northwest Jacksonville late Wednesday afternoon, according to Jacksonville police.
Police said 36-year-old Deandes Young fired several shots at a car passing by his home. Around 4 p.m. at West First and Canal streets, officers surrounded the house where neighbors and witnesses believed he was hiding, but the house was empty.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to the home just before 5 p.m.
"We had a witness who saw him go inside the house, so our best thought was that he was possible still in there. He might have gotten out of the back door or something like that," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Detective Bobby Lyle.
Police said they believe Young knew the people inside the vehicle and is now wanted for aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
The incident was not connected to a triple shooting earlier in the day a few miles away, according to authorities.
If you know any information in regards to Young's whereabouts, you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
