JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

After nearly 10 hours, a man who police believed was armed with a gun and barricaded himself in a house on 10 Wagon Road surrendered.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, officers responding to a domestic disturbance call around 2 a.m. Monday said a woman came out of the house and said a man inside had a weapon. The man told police he would not leave and barricaded himself inside.

A SWAT team was deployed, and the roads around the house were blocked, including the 13000 block of West Beaver Street, between Otis and Halsema roads.

Swat 2 No evacuations were required because the home was in an isolated mobile home.

"They set up a perimeter around the residence as they attempted to make contact by phone, which at about 3 o'clock, they were successful," JSO spokesman Shannon Harley said.

About 10 a.m., police said the man was arrested without incident.

When Channel 4's Erica Rakow was allowed to get near the scene just after the man was taken into custody, she said there was a smell of tear gas in the area and all the windows of the mobile home were smashed.

The man's name and the exact charge he will be facing was not released.
