The mystery continues tonight-- in the death of a local father last seen on the Mathews bridge over the weekend after police say his car became disabled...Moments before a car came crashing into him. This morning-- his body pulled from the waters-- miles away. Tonight-- we're taking a look at how safe it is--when driving over the Mathews Bridge. 3 New questions are emerging from the crash and death of 39-year-old Vernon Stephens who investigators believe was hit by a speeding car on the Mathews Bridge Friday night. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified 31-year-old Henry Curtis as the man behind the wheel of that speeding car. Investigators believe Curtis was going 65- miles-per-hour at the time which is 20 miles OVER the limit on the bridge. His family told us he was too upset to talk right now but may want to tell his side of the story in the coming days and weeks. Adrienne: As far as we know there's been no talk about changing the speed limit here.We do know that this bridge is heavily patrolled in fact we saw a handful of deputies on the bridge while covering tonight's story. but we did NOT see anyone ticketed for speeding.
