Driving along some San Marco roads has a quaint but sometimes infuriating side-effect. Luckily the last phase of construction along San Marco Boulevard should be done in the next three months.
For two years now crews have been ripping up road and sidewalk to improve this popular part of town. There have been 10 phases altogether, the final one that began last week will expand Balis Park and build a roundabout at the intersection of San Marco and Atlantic boulevards.
San Marco resident John Bryan believes the construction is needed.
"Certainly it is, but you know that whole area has been flooding for years and got problems, but hopefully they will get it done as quick as they can," Bryan said.
"I don't think it's a problem at all," Mary Ellen Salvador said. "I come down quite a bit. I think the merchants are fine with it. It's just a matter of maneuvering a little differently that you did before."
The entire project is expected to finish in March.
