Scott calls for full review of FSCJ
Audit last week revealed spending issues
Gov. Rick Scott has called for a review of leadership from "the top down" at Florida State College at Jacksonville after an audit released last week revealed several issues.
Scott's concerns come after Sen. Steve Oelrich called for an investigation to look closer at the leadership of FSCJ President Steve Wallace and the thousands of dollars worth of perks he has received.
Scott's office sent Channel 4 this statement:
"I have reviewed key findings associated with recent audits of FSCJ and am concerned that lack of management and financial oversight has hurt students at the college. Such findings negatively impact the school, the taxpayers and the programs necessary to help student find the best jobs in the workforce. Based on these facts and in order to ensure the greatest possible confidence in such an important educational institution, the leadership of the college, from the top down, must be seriously reviewed."
Scott went on to say he knows the board is taking the matter seriously.
FSCJ's board plans to meet Tuesday.
