ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

An arrest is made in connection with a hit-and-run crash on Old Moultrie Road early Friday morning that left a 30-year-old man critically injured.

St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Marc Lilly in connection with the crash.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, Nathaniel Callahan was heading south on a scooter about 5:40 a.m. when he was rear-ended by a 2000 Ford Windstar minivan, according to Sgt. Chuck Mulligan of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Callahan was transported to Flagler Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Nathaniel Callahan Lily, 43, is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries and two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with damage to property.

Callahan's family is praying for his recovery, saying he has a whole lot to live for, including five sons and a wife.

"The doctor has stated that if he can make it through 72 hours, then there may be a chance for him," said Ruth Callahan, Nathaniel's grandmother.

Callahan's family said whether he recovers or not is in the hands of God and the doctors.

"And a person that can just hit a human being and just leave them there fighting for his life," said Rhune Callahan, Nathaniel's aunt. "Most people, if they hit an animal they stop and see about it. This is a human being."
