JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 38-year-old man was sentenced this week to civil confinement as a sexually violent predator.

Terry Busler has multiple felony sex crime convictions. In 1996, he was convicted of a lewd lascivious act and sexual battery on a 12-year-old girl.

In 2000, Busler violated his probation and was sentenced to five years in prison. Then in 1999, Busler was adjudicated guilty on one count of sexual activity involving a 16-year-old girl.

Experts testified this week that Busler suffers from a personality disorder that makes him likely to engage in sexually violent acts. The experts noted Busler needs to be in a long-term care facility receiving treatment.

Busler was sentenced to indefinite confinement at the Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia.
