Shoppers can find Columbus Day bargains

You may not even realize it but Monday is Columbus Day.  And if you're a bargain shopper, you may find reason to celebrate: big sales.

According to the website www.shopittome.com, Columbus Day is one of the best days of the year to find items on sale.

"We rate it as one of the top five holidays in terms of average percent discount," website founder, Charlie Graham, said.

While it doesn't rank up there with Black Friday or Cyber Monday, Columbus Day sales can be pretty major, especially for women.

"What we've noticed from our data is that women's items are more discounted on Columbus Day than men's or kids. So, if you're going to be shopping, shop for women's items," said Graham.

Graham knows where and when to find the best deals because that's what his website is all about. Each day, the staff scours tens of thousands of sale items and then tells members, via email, when is the best time to buy the things they're looking for. "

Graham says his site has relationships with over 150 retailers.  "We check their websites everyday and tell you when your favorite things go on sale in your size," he explained.

Graham added that Columbus Day sales are especially great for people in our area, and a lot of the deals are already available.

"If you live in a climate that's warm all year round like Florida or California, it's a great time to buy summer dresses, sandals and shorts. They're going to have a much higher discount than they do at any other time of the year," he said.
