Some score big at JSO auction
Items sold include Lamborghini, Range Rover, gold jewelry
They were in the market to pick up a hot new ride or maybe a new piece of bling. Either way, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office auction Thursday brought out some of the largest crowds it has ever seen.
You may have stopped by just a get a look at the item on everyone's wish list: a 2004 Lamborghini with just 12,000 miles on it.
Vadim Nikhail agrees it was the hottest item on the market. He ended up shelling out $87,000 for the car and says it was a bit of a battle with another bidder.
"The guy on the phone got me," Nikhail said. "Whoever was on the phone on the other end of the line, they got like a good, like, $8,000 out of me, but it's OK."

Police say every item on the list, from the motorcycles to a four-wheeler, was seized from illegal activity. Every dollar earned goes toward two law enforcement funds, with 15 percent going to charity. Police say that's not the only fun part.
"You see people buying their first cars, either for themselves or for a family member," Lt. Ray Beltz said. "And then you have somebody who purchased a Lamborghini, and it's probably a dream car for them."
She may not have gotten the Lamborghini, but Peggie Winstead isn't complaining. She's the proud new owner of a 2007 BMW. She said she knows she got a pretty good deal.
"You have to do your homework first and make sure you're not getting caught up in the bidding process and bid too much and get burned," Winstead said. "But if you do your homework, you can get a good deal here."
Even those who didn't walk away with their dream deal might agree the auction was a great success, maybe more so for some.
"I've been looking for this exact one for a long time because I wanted the six speed," Nikhail said. "So now, it's exactly what I wanted, so I got it."
In all, the auction raised $249,610.
There are expected to be a few more auctions this year, and some attending Thursday's say they'll wait for the next big deal.
