JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The son of Duval County's chief judge was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Police in Jacksonville Beach arrested Richard Moran, 37, son of Circuit Judge Donald Moran, on a charge of resisting an officer.

Police said he was stopped for speeding on Butler Boulevard, and as the officer asked him for his driver's license, Moran asked the officer to give him a break because his father was in law enforcement, according to a police report.

Moran then told the officer he had a gun in the car, according to the report. Another officer asked Moran to get out of the car and told him he was going to do a pat-down, according to the report.

Moran resisted when the officer grabbed his arm, took "an aggressive stance," and the officer pulled his gun and ordered Moran to lie on the ground, according to the report.

Moran did, but the officer had to wrestle him into handcuffs, according to the report.

Police said they found a black semiautomatic .22-caliber handgun properly stored in the center console.

Moran told the other officer, "That (expletive) (expletive) touched me. I am going to have his badge and job because my dad is a judge downtown. This is (expletive) ridiculous."

Moran has since bonded out of the Duval County Jail.
