St. Augustine, Fla. -

A St. Johns County Center for the Arts graduate organized a relief concert for the victims of Hurricane Sandy at St. Augustine High School Friday night.

Christopher Pritchard organized the concert featuring musical acts from around the county to raise money for the relief effort in New York and New Jersey.

“I was raised here in St. Augustine, lived here for 18 years of my life, and current go to school at New York University…I saw the devastation first hand and I wanted to find a way to bridge the two communities in my life, and show the people in the New England area they’re not alone and that we’re all here for them- even down here in Florida,” said Pritchard.

The concert was a community-wide event featuring St. Augustine Mayor Joe Boles as emcee.

“We’re really blessed in St. Augustine and we’re just glad we can help- we are saddened by the tragedy. But, you know a community by its willingness to respond to trouble in other areas, and because we’re so blessed it’s wonderful to be able to help anybody else, so that’s why we’re here,” said Mayor Boles.

Pritchard was asking for 15 dollars donations or whatever the individual felt affordable in exchange for the evening of music.
