A new survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers showed the average salary of new grads at a little more than $44,000. That's the best year-over-year rise since the class of 2008.
The salary averages are only for those graduates who found jobs in their fields of study, not for those who simply took any job they could find.
And employment is scarce for new workers.
A separate survey of 2012 grads showed that fewer than 30 percent of students polled had a job offer ahead of graduation.
