3 If three-days weren't enough...Governor Rick Scott is now proposing TEN DAYS without a sales tax, as a back-to-school gift to Floridians. It's part of his re-election year proposal to cut taxes and fees.. Channel 4's Erica Rakow joins us live this morning....Erica, the governor claims the extension would save families 60 million dollars... 3 3 That's right... Governor scott also hopes to save families money...by increasing the amount of clothing items that can be bought tax-free. Last year clothes costing 75 dollars or less were exempt, but Scott wants to increase the amount to 100 dollars. The governor also wants to let Floridians buy computers tax- free again this year, but the tax break would only apply to computers worth less than 750 dollars. Extending the holiday would also benefit retailers...which typically see a 30 to 40 percent increase in shoppers over three days. Governor scott says that could create more jobs... But some economists claim there are ulterior motives ... 3 3 00-04 State legislators will consider Scott's proposal during the upcoming session that starts in March.
