PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -

Family and friends gathered Monday as an 18-year-old killed last week in a tractor accident on his family's farm was laid to rest.

Jerad Revels was riding a tractor on a potato farm off State Road 206 when it slid off a dirt road and overturned on him in an irrigation ditch, pinning him underneath. He died before rescuers arrived.

Those who knew the Menendez High School student said he touched many lives and always made people laugh.

"Jerad made an impact on a lot of people's lives," friend Brittney Perry said. "Like everybody has been saying, you hardly ever saw Jerad not laughing or not smiling."

Up and down the road leading to the cemetery, there were hundreds of cars and pickup trucks, everyone gathering to pay their last respects to a friend many said they're going to miss.

"Jerad was about 1 when we actually moved on the street where the accident happened," Duane Nichols said. "It just means a lot to let everyone know there is family unity whether you are kin or not."

Shawn Nichols grew up next to Revels.

"Yeah, we spent most of our childhood together playing out on the farm and driving four-wheelers," he said.

Those who knew Revels all had special memories, but those memories came together Monday for one purpose.

"He always had a smile on his face and always made everyone laugh, so it was really important to come out and show our support and love for the Revels family," Sherry Hersey said.
