Kids on their way to school make a disturbing discovery .... a dead teen... in a yard in Northwest Jacksonville. 3 That 12-year-old girl tells channel 4 she was walking with a friend when they saw the body at around 7 this morning. The body has now been identified as 17- year-old Errin Brooks - and police consider his death suspicious. His body was in the back yard of a residence at 4th street and Clyde Drive. That is the same neighborhood where the murder of 8-year-old Dreshawna Davis captured the attention of the entire city back in 2006. Channel 4's Marques White spoke with one of the students who found the body. He joins us live from the scene. 3 3 That girl says she saw the body in front of this home. That 12-year-old was walking to school with a friend. After the girl saw the body -- another friend she was with ran to call 9-1-1. 3 People who live in this area say they heard gunshots around 9:30 last night. But there's no word from investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office -- if that is connected to the death of 17-year-old Errin Brooks -- who was found lying here. 192715 GIRL: I asked the little boy who I was walking with to the bus stop to come with me to see if it was a real body.There's no word on how long Brooks had been lying here. One of this young girl's friends also saw the body. 192735 GIRL: I told him to call the police and that's what he did.Investigators are working to pinpoint an exact cause of death.They won't comment on what evidence they may have collected -- in Brooks' death. They're also calling this an "undetermined death" and foul play is suspected. Alisha Oliver's daughter had the FCAT this week -- and also saw the body on her way to school.192540 OLIVER: They're just -- I've never seen her like that before -- and she never witnessed anything like so -- it was just unbelievable.She was very scared.The area where the shooting happened is just blocks away from where the high-profile murder of 8-year-old Dreshawna Davis took place back in 2006. I mean you can try and put as much law enforcement as you can - but you know there's only so much you can do. 3 Homicide investigators say the medical examiner and the assistant state attorney were called to the scene.
