Trayvon Martin
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The arms of Trayvon Martin's family stretch wide and reach here to Jacksonville, even to Channel 4 News.

Sharon Martin works at the TV station, and she is also related to Trayvon.

Her cousin is Trayvon's aunt. Her son has socialized with the teen who was shot and killed in February, and now Martin and her entire family are dealing with grief and the media attention.

"As a family member, we love him. He is forever with us every day, and obviously he is with everyone else," Martin said. "It's on every night. It's on every headline. Local and national and everything. It's like, what is next?"

All of the attention has given the family something else.

"Oh, yes, we have gained a nation," Martin said. "We lost a family member, but we gained a nation, and we so appreciate that. And we just want truth. We want justice. We don't want anything else but the truth so we may have peace."

Martin said she talked to her cousin every day. She said the family is close, but they are also concerned about what could happen, what will the outcome of all of this will be.

"We pray every day that there is nothing but good that comes out of it," Martin said. "We don't want violence. We don't stand for violence. We are not a family of violence."

Martin said the prayers are not just for her family and Trayvon.

"It's prayer on both sides," she said. "We are praying for the Zimmerman family. We know what they are going though somewhat. But when they put themselves in our shoes, they know what we are going though."
