JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

University of North Florida police are investigating after a student reported she was sexually assaulted in a women's locker room Tuesday night.

According to UNF's Facebook page and the UNF Police Department's website, the student said she was in the locker room at the new Student Wellness Complex at 9 p.m. when she was confronted by man in his early 20s, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with dark blonde hair. She said he was wearing a gray tank top, blue shorts and white tennis shoes.

"It's really surprising. The facilities are really nice, it seems really safe in there," said Blake Weaver, a freshman at UNF. "Whenever I went into the locker room the other day, there was a staff member in the locker room, but maybe that was just because it was the first few days it was open. They have a bunch of staff members walking around the gym. I'm really surprised it was even able to happen at all."

Students said there are flyers up in the gym with the man's description and asking for information about what happened.

"I thought it was especially surprising because, literally, there are staff members everywhere," UNF freshman Matthew Dent said. "We just left and there were six to seven guys up on the gym floor, there's three guys down on the locker room floor. When I went into the locker room, it was really bright and well lit. There's no hidden corners. I just think it's weird something could happen like that and no one would know about it."

Anyone with any information on the sexual assault is asked to call UPD at 904-620-2800.
