JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery Sunday at a Southside fast food restaurant and a nearby crash to see if the two incidents are related.

Officers responded to the Whataburger at 3680 West University Blvd. after a robbery call around 8:45 p.m.

Lt. Jesse York said three masked men made workers and three customers lay on the floor and stole an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the scene.

York said no one inside the Whataburger was hurt.

Around the same time, investigators said they tried to stop a suspicious car before it led them on a chase and crashed at 8000 Old Kings Riad South.

Police said three men ran off before two were arrested. The third person was not captured. One of the men arrested had to be taken to a local hospital due to injuries he suffered while being taken down by a Jacksonville Sheriff's K-9 officer.

Robbery detectives at the Whataburger were on scene at the crash on Old Kings Road to see if there is a connection between the two but said new information would be released at a later time.

If you know anything about either of these two crimes, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers. The number is  866-845-TIPS. Callers don't have to give their name and could receive a $1,000 cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
