A 52-year-old man died early Wednesday morning after his car left White Springs Avenue on a curve and struck a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say Charles Ray Tidwell Jr. was traveling north about 12:30 a.m. just south of N.W. Stephen Foster Drive in his 1999 Nissan Sentra when he failed to negotiate the curve.
Tidwell was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. According to the FHP report he was not wearing a seat belt.
