An 85-year-old Middleburg woman died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said Maxine Kaden was driving east on Old Hard Road, west of Canova Road, just before 2 p.m. when she apparently had a medical issue.

Troopers said Kaden's Cadillac DeVille crossed the center line and went off the roadway, onto the north shoulder. The front of the car struck a large tree.

Kaden was taken to Orange Park Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
