A woman was killed and her husband critically injured while riding their motorcycle on Saturday, authorities said.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Allan Freeland, 78, and Mary Freeland, 76, were traveling southbound on Interstate 75 when a large piece of tire debris on the roadway caused the driver to lose control.
The motorcycle, which was towing a trailer, overturned onto its left side and ejected both occupants.
The wife was pronounced deceased at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. The husband was also in critical condition at Shands.
The initial FHP report indicated that both motorcyclists were killed.
