The driver of this SUV .. no doubt .. feeling lucky to be alive. We're told she swerved off the road at Blanding Blvd and Old Jennings Road in Middleburg .. and wound up in a pond. Fortunately, a man who was nearby saw what happened, jumped into the pond, and saved her. We don't have much information about the woman .. except she was taken to a hospital and at last check was in stable condition. As for the man who pulled her to safety -- he talked with Channel 4's Elizabeth Campbell about the rescue. 3 00-0716-2333-39LKL INTRO - 5811 A local man got to work this morning here at Adamec Harley Davidson of Orange Park and he was soaking wet -- but it wasn't because of the rain -- it was because he had just jumped into a pond to save the life of a woman whos car had just veered off the road into the water.SOT - 4935 i started running towards the suv and then i seen a splash from behind the fence and i got sick to my stomach continued running towards the splash and i didnt know what i was going to see when i got there TRACK - When Devin Mcewen got to the other side of the fence -- he says he saw a woman fighting to stay afloat -- right next to her SUV that was slowly sinking in the pond.Mcewen says he instantly emptied his pockets and jumped in after her.SOT - 0508 i asked if she was ok but she never could answer my questions and i tried to calm her down and started asking her whats her name, where you going, wheres she from and she started talking a little TRACK - Mcewen was making his usual drive to work on Blanding Boulevard Northbound Thursday morning.
