Woman wedged between 2 buildings
Oregon woman stuck nearly 4 hours after early morning fall
A smoke break turned into an hours-long ordeal for an Oregon woman when she got stuck between two buildings.
The woman spent nearly four hours in a space 8 to 10 inches wide, emerging from the space at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday with her fists clenched and shouting "Oh my God," The Associated Press reported.
Firefighters aren't sure just how the woman got stuck.
She was seen smoking or walking on the roof of a two-story building at about 3:45 a.m. before falling 10 to 12 feet, Portland TV station KGW reported.
Rescuers initially tried using ropes to get her out, but ultimately decided to cut through the wall of the parking garage to free her.
An air bag was deployed in hopes of expanding the space between the wall. Soapy water was also applied, and a propane heater and flexible pipe were used to keep her warm, KGW reported.
The woman, who was not identified, was listed in fair condition at a local hospital.
