JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Drivers across the country are noticing the price of gas is going down. Florida's average price of regular unleaded gas is around $3.21 a gallon, according to AAA. That's about 20 cents less than it was a year ago.

AAA said one of the reasons the price of gas is plummeting is because there is not a lot of demand for gas right now.

Bernard Hamblin told Channel 4 that his wish for this upcoming holiday season is to see gas go below $3.

Hamblin said that he's skeptical, so instead of filling up, he watches how much he spends by only pumping a couple of gallons each week to get him where he needs to go.

"I'm just getting what I need," said Hamblin.

Last year at this time, Floridians paid an average of $3.44 a gallon for gas. This year, Florida is at $3.21 a gallon.

AAA estimates that prices could drop close to the $3 by the holidays

"Every time we go someplace, do something or buy something, we have to say, 'Well, that's going to cost me $5 to drive there or $10 to drive there,'" said motorist Robert Fenn. "I think the way the economy is every dollar counts. Every time I see the gas dropping a penny, I'm happy. It's more money for me to use for my family and other things I need in life."

The last time gas was below $3 a gallon was in Dec. 2010, AAA said that is when the economy was slowly trying to come out of the recession.
