Car hits bicyclist in Jacksonville Beach

Accident closed Beach Boulevard at Penman Road

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – A 50-year-old man riding a bicycle on Beach Boulevard at Penman Road is in stable condition after being stuck by a car Wednesday night. 

The man riding the bike about 7 p.m. was transported to UF Health Jacksonville by helicopter in critical condition, according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.

Police said the bicyclist, Raymond Garcia, was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Jacksonville Beach police, Garcia was homeless.

Investigators said Garcia was cutting between cars and eventually collided a silver car. Jacksonville Beach police investigators said the driver of the car will not be charged.

The intersection of Beach Boulevard and Penman Road was closed for a few hours while police investigated the accident.
