JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The man accused of shooting and killing a college student outside the Suite nightclub at the St. Johns Town Center on March 24 pleaded not guilty Wednesday at his arraignment, officials said. 

Tony Ricketts, 24, is facing charges of second-degree murder and carrying a concealed firearm in the shooting death of 24-year-old Sina Sherafai outside Suite at the Town Center.

Sherafai was shot twice during a physical altercation with Ricketts, police said.

Two off-duty officers who were working at the club heard said they heard the shots and responded. They told police they saw Sharifai running away from Ricketts, who was running after him with a gun.

Sharifai was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died. Ricketts was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and having a concealed firearm.

Ricketts is scheduled to be back in court May 25.
