Acid-type bomb explodes at local complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to the Caroline Square Apartments Monday night on Ft. Caroline Road after a resident in the area called police saying she heard a loud explosion.

Police arrived and discovered a small acid-type bomb that had exploded in the area. Police gathered the pieces of the device and said the acid-type bomb was made with a plastic bottle, aluminum foil and some type of unknown liquid. 

Police said the explosive was placed in a breezeway of the apartment complex. No one was injured by the explosion.

Police told Channel 4 no one at the complex was in any immediate danger by the bomb, but police said if someone had touched the device they could have been injured. 

Police said they will analyze the liquid that was found in the bomb.
